Ebola: Photos from the Front Lines

There is a reason that the Old Testament contains verses of scripture which clearly warn against the consumption of “unclean meat.” Most agree that the most likely genesis of the Ebola virus is the consumption of “bush meat” or wild meat from the African Fruit Bat, which is a known carrier of the Ebola virus. I’m not especially known to thump a bible at anyone, it being the source of much rage and hatred against gay people, and myself being a gay person, but I do study it [ my grandfather  was a Christian minister and I am a Christian myself ] and there is much refined timeless ancient wisdom in it’s pages, which if followed, would have never allowed Ebola to spread from infected fruit bats into the human population. I’m just saying: there is a sound and valid scientific reason why scripture has warned both primitive and modern human populations against the consumption of unclean meat. It spreads disease on a scale that cannot be controlled.

Efforts to control the Ebola virus in Liberia must be quickly and dramatically scaled up or tens of thousands of people will die in the coming months, said a study published on Friday.

Nearly 4,900 deaths have been recorded across West Africa since the virus was first detected in Guinea in March, according to the World Health Organization. Liberia has been the hardest hit of the countries most affected by the virus, with 2,705 deaths and 4,665 recorded cases.

Without accelerated efforts to control the disease, Ebola will kill 90,000 in Liberia and infect 171,000 by mid-December, a study in medical journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases said.

Cops not concerned with public safety

Police officers tasked with working the scene around the Manhattan apartment of Dr. Craig Spencer, diagnosed with Ebola yesterday, were caught on camera tossing the gloves and masks they used for their protection into public trash cans.

One video (above via the Daily Mail) shows two police officers discarding first the crime scene tape used to block off the potentially infected area, then removing their protective gloves and masks and tossing them into an open-top public waste bin.

The video does not show whether or not the officers had entered Spencer’s apartment. Earlier reports said that those who did enter were wearing hazmat suits, so it is likely that they did not. Regardless of their proximity to the patient’s apartment, the incident raises concern about the degree to which the city is prepared to handle the deadly virus and how closely safety protocol…

Chicago schools become overcrowded disease factories feeding children rotten food as district runs out of money

(NaturalNews) A new deal between the Chicago Public School (CPS) system and a private custodial and cafeteria service was promised to save the district tens of millions but instead resulted in some students having to clean their own school before the school year began and being served rotten food for lunch.

In February, CPS, the third largest school district in the nation, signed contracts worth $340 million to privatize their custodial services, an agreement that would take over the training, supervision and management of custodians for 66 Chicago schools, Catalyst Chicago reports.

The concept behind signing the new contracts was that teachers would have more time to teach rather than clean, the schools would save money, and each facility would have a high standard of cleanliness. However, school officials say none of these promises materialized, and in fact CPS conditions worsened, putting children at-risk.
