A London student was arrested at Heathrow with €20,000 hidden in her underwear to be used to fund terrorism in Syria, the Old Bailey heard today.
Nawal Msaad, 27, had wrapped the 44 notes, mostly of €500 and equivalent to £15,800, in clingfilm, the jury was told.
She had reached the departure gate, and when challenged claimed she had wanted to use the money to buy gold for her mother, it is alleged. In fact, she planned to hand it over in Istanbul to Aine Davis, 30, the husband of her co-defendant Amal El-Wahabi, the court heard.
